Durango-Kayenta-Grand Canyon

We were driving in the hot desert zone of Arizona at the four corners area. It was absolutely hot but thanks to the cool wind that somehow has lighten the heat and made everything balance. There was nothing but barren field of sand and rocks and forever brown.

Durango, Colorado
Durango is located at the four corners of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada. We spent a night in Alpine Inn. The room is spacious and it only cost us $50 per night. It came with microwave, fridge and free ice. The next morning we took a strolled in the flea market and bought some souvenirs. We did not stay long in Durango as we're headed to Grand Canyon. Durango was the last cool place for the journey because right after that we were passing by deserts and the weather was absolutely hot and dry.

Ouray - Durango
The route is absolutely scenic but the road was scary. It was narrow and no hold barred. We never used to this mountainous road and looking down the gorge make your head wonder of the worst case scenario. Some of the road just sloping down right from the edge line of the road.

Blue Mesa Lake
Going down from Monarch Crest we passed places with very beautiful view. I really enjoyed the view so much I was so lost in it. I just forgot to capture some of it. After a while we stopped by Blue Mesa Lake, one of the Colorado River Storage Projects. Another beautiful places along the way. If you rent an RV, you can parked and spent the night here. It was really a place of beauty.

Monarch Crest- Elevation 11,312 ft
The Monarch Crest is so beautiful and so cool you still could see snows all over the mountains. It is summer and I could imagine how chill it will be in winter. We took a tram ride to view the whole area from the crest. The ride was $7/adult and $4/child. I love the cold wind and the beautiful beautiful view. It was very windy up there but it was absolutely fantastic view. If you happen to pass by this place, make sure to take the tram ride. These are some of the pictures.

Summer Vacation
Last Saturday we departed early in the morning to start our Summer Vacation. I've got the green light from Dr Julien to take 1 week off and Seema has helped me to get some maps from AAA for our reference. Thanks Seema, the map really help us a lot! Our old Plymouth van has been fine tuned and the timing belt & water pump has been replaced. We were so excited to finally managed to make this trip. We avoid highways so we took longer hours to arrive at Durango and besides, our old van could not speed much when climbing those steep mountain roads. We stopped by at Monarch Crest to enjoy the beautiful scenery and took a tram ride to the crest. Then, we drove along the mountainous route from Ouray to Durango. That road was so scary considering we never have those roads in Malaysia. We spent a night at Alpine Inn, Durango.

What's for dinner?
Ni adalah sedikit gambar2 recent dinner.. ikan tu dah lama dah masak, our Chef Muzaffar yang buat OK? Pasni balik M'sia leh ler bukak cafe sendiri.. ha..ha..ha... Gambar sudu tuh sepatutnya belum berusik tapi dah nak melantak dah baru ingat nak ambik gambo so sebab tu ler sudu tuh cenggitu rupa dia. . Tapi yang masakan Italy tu, madame yang buat. Sejak dok sini, sedap pulak makan salad nih.. nak-nak dengan croutons tuh.. senang pulak rupanya buat crouton sendiri ni.. roti yang dah expired tu potong2 jer bentuk cubed, kacau dalam butter yang dah ditaburkan dengan serbuk garlic dan lada hitam, then baked in the oven.. roti untuk salad malam tu sebenarnya dipotong panjang sebab cicah dalam mushroom soup, belen tu baru buat salad, malas nak potong, haku patah2 jer.. sonang .
Oh, btw, I already completed my Spring semester.. hoorayyyyyy
